E-Design: Have Your Design Cake & Eat It Too

E-Design Blog Graphic.png

E-design is basically a design blueprint for your space delivered to you via email and tied together with a virtual bow. It really does allow you, as the client, to have your cake and eat it too! E-design, also known as online interior design, strips away geographical boundaries allowing you, the client, the ability to work with any designer in the country (provided they offer e-design as a service). If you are someone who loves interior design and wants to get their hands dirty but needs/wants guidance from an industry expert, then E-design would be a perfect option for you.

Let’s breakdown the benefits of E-design over Full Design

  • Affordable - you get a expert and detailed design of your space for a fraction of the cost of full design services. This is because you don’t have to pay the designer for time spent making purchases, tracking purchases, travel time for shopping, final installation, etc.

  • Time Efficient - final designs are delivered to you in a fraction of the time, most often in 2-3 weeks

  • Flexibility - this comes in a few forms, communication, budget and timeline. Because you don’t have to worry about face-to-face meetings with your designers, you can communicate with them throughout the day at your convenience and schedule. Budget and timeline kind of go hand in hand. E-design puts the purchasing power in your hands, so you can purchase items as your budget allows it, and install the room as your schedule allows it.

Now what if you want something custom and unique? No worries, many e-designers will still work with contractors, manufacturers and custom pieces. So if you wanted to take a queue from your favorite HGTV design show and have black shiplap installed on your bedroom wall in a herringbone pattern, we can make that happen. Or in the case of the below example, we worked with the contractor to install Scandinavian Shiplap (stay tuned for a future post on this!)

So what does an E-design presentation consist of and look like? While there will be some variation from designer to designer, the common pieces all presentations will include are: a design board, or 2, showing you the pieces for each room, a room layout, a list with shoppable links for each item and designer notes. If you want to see an example of a full E-design presentation recently sent to one of our clients, click HERE. For our presentations…

  • A designer board featuring the main room pieces and additional boards showcasing the chosen accessories

  • All designer notes are written directly underneath each item so there’s no guessing which note goes to which item.

  • The links for each item are also right next to the picture and clear as day, couldn’t be easier right?! You literally just click the button that says SHOP IT and you are brought directly to the website for that item. Add it to your cart, pay and that’s it!

  • 3D presentations of the space so you know exactly where to place everything

If this seems simple and straight forward, that’s because it is. The process is super simple as well! Again, this may vary slightly by designers, but overall, you will have to fill out a questionnaire, send the designer photos of the room, measurements, and inspiration (usually in the form of a pinterest board) and that’s about it. Once we have that information, we go to work and send you your 1st draft of design boards in a couple of weeks. Revisions are made if needed and then the final presentation will be emailed to you and you take over installing the final space. Voila, that’s it.

I hope this clarified and answered all your questions regarding just what exactly E-Design is. But, if you have any other questions, feel free to contact me or visit our services page.
